The Cambodian Association of North Carolina (CANC) was recently recognized for its contributions to language access at the Annual Language Access Appreciation Breakfast, hosted by the Human Rights Department. The event served as an opportunity to thank the many partners and stakeholders working to break down language barriers and expand access to critical services for limited-English-proficient communities.
The Cambodian Association of North Carolina has been actively involved in advocating for greater language access, particularly for Khmer speakers, in areas such as government services, public safety, and community outreach. Their efforts, alongside those of other organizations and leaders, help ensure that all residents—regardless of their English proficiency—can access important information and resources.
The breakfast brought together a diverse group of advocates, policymakers, and community leaders to celebrate progress in language accessibility. Attendees had the opportunity to hear from Cristina España from the Office of Governor Cooper and Larry Davis, Assistant City Manager for the City of Greensboro, both of whom shared insights on ongoing initiatives to improve language access at the state and local levels.
By fostering collaboration and recognizing the contributions of organizations like CANC, the event highlighted the ongoing commitment to making North Carolina a more inclusive and accessible place for all.
