Immigration & Citizenship Resource

The Cambodian Association of North Carolina (CANC) offers comprehensive Immigration & Citizenship Resources to support individuals and families in navigating the complex processes of immigration and naturalization. Our goal is to provide the necessary assistance and information to help community members achieve their immigration goals and fully participate in American civic life.

Immigration Support

Our immigration support services are designed to help community members with various immigration-related needs:

Legal Guidance: We provide access to legal advice and consultations to assist with visa applications, asylum claims, green card renewals, and other immigration matters. We partner with immigration lawyers and legal aid organizations to offer these services.

Documentation Assistance: Our team helps individuals complete and submit essential immigration paperwork accurately and on time. This includes help with understanding forms, gathering required documents, and navigating the application process.

Workshops and Information Sessions: We conduct regular workshops and information sessions on immigration topics, including updates on immigration policies, understanding different visa categories, and knowing your rights as an immigrant.

Citizenship Resources

We empower individuals seeking U.S. citizenship through a range of supportive services:

Citizenship Workshops: Our workshops cover the entire naturalization process, from determining eligibility to preparing for the citizenship interview. We provide step-by-step guidance on filling out the N-400 form and understanding the naturalization requirements.

Study Materials: We offer study guides, flashcards, and practice tests for the U.S. citizenship exam, including materials in Khmer to make studying easier for those more comfortable in their native language.

Interview Preparation: We provide mock interview sessions to help applicants prepare for the naturalization interview. These sessions include practice questions and tips on how to effectively communicate with immigration officers.

English and Civics Classes: We offer classes focused on improving English language skills and understanding U.S. history and government, which are critical components of the citizenship test.

Community Outreach

Our community outreach efforts aim to inform and engage community members about our immigration and citizenship resources:

Partnerships: We collaborate with local schools, religious institutions, and community organizations to spread awareness and provide on-site assistance and resources.

Support Services

In addition to direct immigration and citizenship assistance, we offer supplementary support services to ease the transition and integration process:

Mentorship Programs: We connect new immigrants and citizenship applicants with mentors who can provide guidance, answer questions, and offer support throughout the process.

Resource Referrals: We refer individuals to additional resources and services, such as ESL classes, job training programs, and community health services, to support their overall well-being and integration into the community.
