Voter Education & Vote Registration

The Cambodian Association of North Carolina (CANC) is committed to enhancing civic engagement within the Cambodian community through comprehensive Voter Education & Voter Registration initiatives. Our goal is to empower community members with the knowledge and tools they need to actively participate in the democratic process.

Voter Education

Our voter education program focuses on providing clear and accessible information about the voting process and its significance. We offer the following:

Workshops and Seminars: We organize regular workshops that explain the different types of elections (local, state, and federal), the roles of elected officials, and the importance of voting in each of these elections.

Voting Rights Information: We educate individuals on their rights as voters, ensuring they understand the protections and guarantees provided to them under the law.

Non-Partisan Issue Guides: We provide balanced, non-partisan information on key issues and candidates to help voters make informed decisions. This includes voter guides and informational pamphlets available in both English and Khmer.

Public Speaking Events: We invite community leaders and experts to speak about the impact of voting on community resources, education, healthcare, and other vital services.

“A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal.”

Voter Registration

Making voter registration accessible and straightforward is a core component of our initiative. Our efforts include:

Registration Drives: We host voter registration drives at community centers, local events, temples, and other community gathering places. Our trained volunteers assist individuals in completing the necessary forms and ensuring their registrations are correctly submitted.

Assistance Services: We provide one-on-one assistance to help community members with voter registration, including explaining the registration process, helping to fill out forms, and answering any questions about eligibility and deadlines.

Outreach Campaigns: We use social media, flyers, and community announcements to raise awareness about the importance of voter registration and upcoming deadlines. Our outreach efforts are bilingual to ensure they reach a wider audience.

Follow-Up Support: We offer support for individuals who need to update their voter registration information due to changes in address, name, or other personal details.

Through our Voter Education & Voter Registration initiative, CANC strives to create an informed and engaged electorate within the Cambodian community. By providing these essential resources and support, we aim to ensure that every eligible voter has the opportunity to participate fully in the democratic process, thereby strengthening the community’s voice and influence in local, state, and national affairs.
